Hookers for Prop. K

San Fransisco voters could make the Golden Gate City the first US city to legalize prostitution, sort of.

A BIG typo in the local daily?

Here's a copy of the text from this story on Statesman.com about the daughter of Georgetown's Police Chief testing positive for marijuana.

A portion of the story from the stateaman.com

Samantha Morgan was arrested June 18 after a Georgetown police officer pulled over the car she was a passenger in, according to an arrest affidavit. The officer noticed a smell of marijuana emerging from the car and a search found less than five pounds of the drug in Morgan’s purse, the affidavit says. As the officer attempted to arrest her, Morgan kicked the officer and ran, it says. A strip search at the Williamson County Jail found the cocaine, according to the affidavit.

Less than five pounds, that's a lot of the wacky tobacky. Maybe that was suppose to be less than 5 ounces?

Obama beats McCain when it comes to beer pints

The Flying Saucer Austin is selling Obama and McCain beer pints. As of Friday night, 827 people had bought Obama glasses and 402 had bought McCain glasses.

I bought both but only drank out of the Obama glass.

"Economic Crises" = Cheaper Gas

Oil prices dripped to their lowest point in more than a year on Friday, closing at $77.61 a barrel.

Compare that to the all time high price of $145.29 set back in July. That price drop translates to $2.79 in Austin for the cheapest gallon of gas according to Austingasprices.com.

Why you ask? Well according to the New York Times, the International Energy Agency decided that demand for oil wouldn't go up as much as first thought. According to NYT, demand would only go up by 0.05%, the smallest increase in 15 years.

Is this good news as our economy swirls down the crapper? I think so. Hopefully the economic crises will make us realize it's cheaper to use our own feet or public transportation to get around.

Decaf or regular?

Good thing? Bad thing? I'm not sure how I feel about 7-11 getting involved in politics.

Even though I don't drink coffee, I'm off to my local 7-11 to snag a few cups (EBay $$)

How long do you think it'll be before either of the candidates is snapped drinking from one of the cups? Even better, each others cups.

What's next for CNN's Magic Wall?

CNN's magic wall, touch screen, whatever you call it, the plain and simple truth: it's awesome and a new way to be interactive with viewers.

The company behind it: http://www.perceptivepixel.com/

Here's the question: After the November Election is done and we have a new President in the White House, what else can CNN use the touch screen for?

Gettin down with the Mayor

Will live music breaks during City Council meetings be replaced with dancing breaks? If so, Austin's Mayor Will Wynn can certainly lead the way.

MJ in Austin?

No, not really but Austin's Mayor will be "thrilled" to dance his way around City Hall later today.

Maybe it's a good thing most of the council is in Vancover on a chamber trip.

Will Wynn will try and dance like MJ at 2pm at City Hall. The dance off is "practice" for an October 26th event that will try and break a world record for "syncronized Thriller dance World Wide"

I think the Mayor just wants to show off his moves.

Debate one liners

Best line of the night:
"I was looking for a trap door I could spring," -
Tom Brokaw.
After the town hall was over, CNN.com kept the feed up live and Brokaw was talking to someone off camera, near an open microphone. He was talking about the time limit rules and how neither candidate stuck to the rules.

McCain one liners:
"Economy will recover."
"The System in Washington is broken."
"Some of this $700 billion ends up in terrorist organizations."
"What I don't know is what all of us don't know? and that is what is going to happend both here and abroad."

Obama one liners:
"I will double the size of the Peace Corps."
"We can't drill our way out of the problem."
"Resurgence of Russia is central issue during next Presidency."
"It's never the challenges that you expect, it's the challenges that you don't that consume most of your time."

My first entry to Hack out

What is this blog all about? That's a good question. It's about me. It's about Austin. It's about the things that make me who I am and Austin a place I'm lucky to call home.

Look for a almost daily updates about a smorgasbord of topics from City politics to what I had at breakfast.

I will also try and post a daily photo. These photo are intended to be the most interesting photo that I took from that day. Sometimes it true, a picture can be worth a thousand words.

If you can't get enough of me, and we know you can't, check me out on:

With that my first blog is one for the record books. I shall end this blog entry, and hopefully each one with a wise saying that I stole from the internet:

"If we don't succeed, we run the risk of failure." - George W. Bush
